ACAC outdoor pool, September 11, 2003

Swimming pools. I've been in hundreds of them. Swimming mostly, but also playing, exploring, relaxing. Sometimes I just dive down to the bottom in the deep end and sit there. Not moving. Wishing I could stay forever.

This image was taken in just such a deep end on a fall day when the water sparkled with clarity. That happens when the summer crowds have left and the water can breathe again. It doesn't last long before the winter storms move in, but for a short window of time, the water is perfect. Almost not even there. I wish I could stay forever.
